BMDA 9th Annual Conference
How to become Efficient and Effective at the Same Time
May 19th- 20th 2011, Tallinn, Estonia
Recent surveys are stating that many fast developing countries are
succeeding mostly because of the hard and intensive work of their people. They are
performing long hours and due to that reaching effectiveness in short-term perspective.
However, they are failing in assuring efficient process of operations in long run. What
should be done to be successful in both?
The 9th Annual Conference of the Baltic Management Development
Association (BMDA), How to become efficient and effective at the same time,
will try to explore these issues by discussing questions: How to understand efficiency?
How it is possible to be more efficient while doing usual business? How IT technologies
make the work of the employees more efficient, and at the same time preparing the
background for effectiveness of the companies in the long run? How to combine efficiency
and effectiveness? How intercultural factors affect efficiency and effectiveness of
companies?
Those and other questions will be raised and discussed by the conference
participants from different countries, representing business schools, consulting companies
and corporations in different business sectors. The representatives of top management from
Skype (Estonia), Swedbank (Sweden), Det Norske Veritas (Norway) and other corporations
will be keynote speakers of the conference complemented by the prominent representatives
of academic world.
Participants will also have a possibility to visit local and
international companies operating in Estonia - Ericsson, Skanska, Nordea, Tallink, Tschudi
Shipping, Felix Poltsamaa - in order to explore the real cases how these companies combine
efficiency and effectiveness in their activities and to face other business and management
issues.
As always during annual BMDA conference participants will enjoy
networking with academic and corporate partners, be able to establish new co-operations,
have enjoyable discussions both during the working sessions and during the evenings full
