MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
ASFOR was established in 1971 as the Italian Association for Management Development, with
the aim of developing management culture in Italy and of improving management education
solutions by constantly adapting them to demand trends.
The Association has over 70 active members, including Universities Schools of Management,
Corporate Universities and other Management Education Institutions. All members have to
subscribe the "ASFOR Members Code of Ethics.
In June 2010 ASFOR presented the Manifesto ASFOR 2010: Management education as a
strategic tool for Italian competitiveness.
In addition to its well-developed network with institutions and organizations from the
world of management education in Italy, ASFOR is part of networks with international
universities and education institutes.
ASFOR has 3 different kinds of members:
Full
members: public or private legal persons and other bodies that conduct
activities involving the planning, management and control of teaching and research work in
the field of management training to a substantial extent and in compliance with quality
standards prescribed by ASFOR, or that represent important bodies interested in these
activities in the capacity of users of the products and services concerned.
Associate
members: public or private legal persons and other bodies that perform training
or other activities of interest to the Association, while not meeting all the requirements
set for full membership.
Sustaining
members: public or private legal persons and other bodies that are users of
training services or are responsible for economic or social policies in the public and
private sectors and that contribute to the promotion of a management culture, also by
providing financial or organizational support for the Associations work.
All
are admitted according to a quality selection process.
The
Association's objectives are:
to
promote a process of awareness of the crucial role of management culture for relaunching
Italy's competitiveness in the global economy;
to
strengthen and qualify existing education facilities in order to set up a management
education system of flexible institutions that can enhance response to demand and operate
in an increasingly complex market;
to
promote new institutions and education programs, in particular focusing on Italys
weak socio-economic areas, and raising awareness among players in the areas of politics,
economics and culture;
to
promote the development of an internationalization process of managerial culture that
contributes to the integration of the Italian economy, markets and political and
administrative systems;
to
provide contributions and incentives to the process of research for improving the quality
of education, promoting projects and initiatives designed to stimulate market growth and
the spread of quality standards. In 1989 ASFOR started the "Master Accreditation
Process" (categories: Master in General Management, Specialized
Master and MBA, Master in Business Administration), in 2005 the "Accreditation
Process for e-learning Executive Master" and in 2008 the Accreditation
Process of Corporate Master.
PricewaterhouseCoopers serves as member of the ASFOR review team in order to audit
administrative aspects;
to
promote the quality of activities and education processes for Public Administration. To
this end, ASFOR has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Italian Department of
Public Administration on the "Quality of education services for ASFOR-member schools
providing education for Public Administration";
to
encourage the development of e-learning by defining quality criteria, promoting research
and surveys, and developing reference instruments for public institutions and the
scientific community. The Association has produced the second edition of the ASFOR
Glossary "The words of e-learning", with over 600 words, published on the
web site www.asfor.it. Moreover, with the patronage of the Italian Ministry for Reforms
and Innovation in Public Administration and the Ministry of University and Research, ISFOL
(Institute for the Development of Vocational Education) and SIe-L (Italian Society for
e-Learning), ASFOR promotes the Competition "e-Talents of e-Learning" in order
to select the best university e-Learning theses;
to
activate innovative training for management trainers in particular focused on elearning
technologies.
