Giovanni Marseguerra
Giovanni Marseguerra (born 1962, married with Elena, three sons – Stefano 16,
Pietro 13, Giorgio 11) is Full Professor of Economics at the Catholic University of Milan, Italy,
where he is also Rector’s Delegate to Education. He is the Scientific Director of the Division on
Employees’ Welfare and Social Innovation of ALTIS, the Postgraduate School Business &
Society of the Catholic University.
After receiving a Laurea Degree summa cum laude in Mathematics at the Milan State
University, he received a Master of Science in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics and a
Ph.D. in Economics, both at the London School of Economics.
He is the Scientific Secretary of the Vatican Foundation Centesimus Annus - Pro
Pontifice, a member of the Scientific Committee of the De Gasperi Foundation and an Associate
Editor and a member of the Scientific Committee of Economia Politica - Journal of Analytical
and Institutional Economics.
His research interests relate to the theory of the firm, focusing on such topics as
innovation, investments, financial decisions, corporate governance and family firms. He is the
author and editor of several international books and has published papers in national and
international journals. He has served as a board member of international conferences and
meetings.
He is the author of the book Corporate Financial Decisions and Market Value -
Studies on Dividend Policy, Price Volatility, and Ownership Structure, Springer, Berlin and New
York, 1998, and among his most recent publications, are worth mentioning the books of the
